Liga para a Proteccao da Natureza (LPN)
Liga para a Proteccao da Natureza
(League for the Protection of Nature) is a Portuguese non-profit
non-governmental organization with 7500 members. It is the oldest
environmental association from the Iberian Peninsula, created in
1948 with the main target to contribute to the conservation of
nature, biodiversity and ecosystems.
Besides the Lisbon headquarters,
LPN has also delegations in the centre (Coimbra), and in the south
(ora and Portim) of Portugal.
LPN aims to assure the preservation
of natural resources, which are the basis of sustainability, and to
conserve the Portuguese natural heritage for the next
generations.
LPN main activities are
environmental education and training, direct intervention in
environmental issues and development/implementation of conservation
and research projects.
